Fall Freeze = Phooey!

I am disappointed. We were heading out tomorrow for four days at Echo Bluff State Park. I was really looking forward to seeing Missouri’s fall colors at near peak (and just maybe a glimpse of Missouri’s wild horse population too).

But the forecast is daunting for the next week — highs in the low 50s, and overnight lows near 20 for all next week. We hated to cancel but it’s probably a good decision.

Instead, we are learning about winterizing the trailer this weekend. There are a ton of things to drain!

Making a list for 2020

A good article about Ha Ha Tonka State Park at the Lake of the Ozarks. We will be visiting in 2020.

Missouri’s Best State Park

We have one more trip scheduled for 2019 before we winterize our new baby. We will be visiting Missouri’s newest state park, Echo Bluff (near the Current River and Eminence, MO).

Hoping for great fall colors and maybe, just maybe, a visit from the wild horse herd that roams the area.

Whew!

It’s been years since I last played in the adminstrative control panel. I was almost sure I managed to nuke this entire site Not that there is much here, but still ….

I really need to RTFM.

Beautiful September Skies

Absolutely perfect almost-fall day at Watkins Woolen Mill State Park, Lawson, Missouri.Missouri State Parks are beautifully maintained. Here at Watkins Mill, trails are groomed, firepits and grills are clean, trash is picked up, access areas are well marked, and there is a beautiful visitors center at the historic mill site.At our campsite, we have 50 amp service, one of two clean bathhouses is within easy

walking distance, and we are on a level, treed site that affords us some privacy. A bargain for $25 per night.

Shake-Down Part Two

Today we continue our “find the defects” quest with a weekend trip to Watkins Mill SP. Like last weekend’s foray to Pony Express RV Park, this is another place pretty close to home base, and we are continuing to test all systems. Only one year to get everything ship-shape under warranty, after all.

We are taking the #HellHounds for the first time and may have to abort. I’m really hoping those two will surprise me and be good little campers. More importantly, our first grandson is scheduled to make his appearance into the world at any moment (actual due date Oct. 5) and this expectant grandma doesn’t want to be TOO far away when the blessed day arrives. I’ve only been waiting for-evah to be a grandma.

Getting the itch. It’s our Shake-Down trip.

Shake down with new rig.
Shake-Down 2020
  • Buy a truck
  • Buy a Home Away from Home
  • Retire!

Our first time out with the new rig, a Grand Design Reflection 297RSTS. Looking for issues and re-learning operations at Pony Express RV Park near Osborn, Missouri. We camped here for a summer years and years ago when racing at US 36 Raceway. A lot has changed, not necessarily for the better.
